Awards

The Jury of the Official Feature Film Section of the Dock of the Bay 2022 Music Documentary Film Festival, composed of Jorge Tur, Amanda Villavieja and Joan Porcel, has decided to award the Best Music Documentary Feature Film Award to:

"Mija" by Isabel Castro.
The Dock of the Bay 2022 Best Music Documentary Feature Award goes to a delicate and moving story that, through the hands of Doris Muñoz, music manager, and Jacks Haupt, a young Latina artist trying to make her way in the industry, tells us about issues such as immigration, fear of deportation, family ties and the promise of the American dream in the Mexican society of the United States. In addition, we highlight the intelligent decision to work the search for the story through a realization of two rhythms: sequences of a more observational cinema, which follows the evolution of the protagonists and others of a more formalist nature where he manages to portray their longings and desires as if they were daydreams.

Special Mention to: "My Lover the Killer" by Marc Hurtado.
For a film in which two artists, Marc Hurtado (the director) and Lydia Lunch (the protagonist) merge their own creative processes to tell us about the making of an album.

Special Mention to: "Nightclubbing: The Bird of Punk Rock in NY" by Danny Garcia.
For a film that questions the legend of punk rock in New York in the 70's by recovering a possible alternative history, that of the memory of Max's Kansas City lounge, which was the origin of the scene and the artists of this movement.

The Jury of the Official Short Film Section of the Dock of the Bay 2022 Music Documentary Film Festival, composed of Maider Oleaga, Miren iza- Tulsa and Pela del Álamo has decided to award the Best Music Documentary Short Film Award to:

"Dopo Yumemories", by Jordan Gallard.
For being built from the same DIY philosophy as the previous film; for its ability to turn domestic recordings into a contemporary film that celebrates music and friendship, more from necessity than from nostalgia, and finally, turning it into a letter of love and farewell.

Special Mention to "Dreams" by Miguel H. Ariza.
For its simplicity and forcefulness, for being a plea to the taste for music and dance as well as a concise family portrait.

Dock Of The Bay 2022 Feature Film Audience Award: "Nothing Compares" by Kathryn Ferguson.

Audience Award Short Films Dock Of The Bay 2022: "Turning Man 81 - RPM " by Robin Trouillet.
