Nightclubbing: The Birth of Punk Rock in NYC tells the story of the legendary New York City club Max's Kansas City and the NY Rock Scene of the 70s that kickstarted Punk Rock. This is the first ever documentary on the renowned New York City nightclub Max's Kansas City and the indelible impact it has had on the world of music, fashion, art and culture. As legendary Alice Cooper puts it: "A million ideas we're launched back there", referring to the Max's Kansas City famous backroom where Andy Warhol held court with artists, actors/actresses and musicians including the highly influential Velvet Underground. The Velvets, Alice Cooper and Iggy & The Stooges played at Max's before the New York Dolls became the house band. That was years before CBGB opened for business. As Billy Idol says in the film: "It was one of the homes of Punk". Besides Alice Cooper and Billy Idol, Nightclubbing features a real summit of NY's underground legends, including Jayne County, Alan Vega (Suicide), Sylvain Sylvain (New York Dolls), Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), JJ French (Twisted Sister), HR and Dr. Know (Bad Brains), Harley Flanagan (Cro-Mags), Penny Arcade, Jimmy Zero (Dead Boys) and many more.
