Maider Oleaga

Maider Oleaga (Bilbao, 1976) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and a diploma in film directing (ECAM). In 2014 she furthered her studies with a Master's Degree in Feminist and Gender Studies (UPV). She has directed the documentaries “Amaren Ideia” (2009), “Esperanza” (2012), “Verabredung” (2017), winner of the Doc España section at SEMINCI and “Muga deitzen da Pausoa” (2018) premiered at the Gijón Festival the same year. With this project she was part of the first edition of the artistic residency Ikusmira Berriak. Her latest feature documentary, “Kuarkt Valley” (2021), premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival where it won the Best Basque Screenplay Award from the Basque Screenwriters Association, achieving also a special mention from the Irizar Award. She has written and directed the fiction short films “Neoi argiak ederrenean”, part of the collective film “Gure Oroitzapenak” (2018), “Sitios prestados al aire” (2011), winner of the IMCINE Short Film Project Competition (Mexico) and “Kinka” (2021), premiered at ZINEBI with the Best Basque Screenplay Award. She has participated in several educational projects such as Cinema en Curs and Zineleku and also collaborates as a tutor at the Elías Querejeta Film School.
