Jorge Tur

Jorge Tur Moltó is a filmmaker, professor and coordinator of the Master of Creative Documentary at the UAB (Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona). Among his works we can highlight the one he dedicated to the group Cicatriz in the documentary "Si yo fuera tú, me gustarían los Cicatriz" (If I were you, I would like Cicatriz). He uses film to focus on what he doesn't understand, doesn't know or is afraid of. His work method is always based on an exploration, whether in a morgue (De función), in a psychiatric hospital (Castillo), in his neighborhood (Ja arriba el temps de remenar les cireres), in faraway Moscow (Diario ruso) or in an unknown desert (Dime quién era Sanchicorrota). His films have won awards at Festival Punto de Vista, Sitges Festival, Vila do Conde, Alcances, Documenta Madrid, Festival Dei Popoli, Las Palmas, Transcinema or Cinespaña Toulouse. They have been screened in museums such as CCCB, MUSAC, Malba or Muvim and in centers such as La Casa Encendida, Arts Santa Mònica or Niemeyer. They have also been selected in competitions such as Bafici, DocLisboa, Zinebi, Visions du Reel, Alcine, Fidocs or Taiwan International Documentary, among others. They have also been part of exhibitions such as D-Generación: experiencias subterráneas de la no ficción española, which gathers works made in the frameworks of experimental cinema, video and creative documentary from new production spaces, Apología/Antología, which reviews 50 years of video creation in Spain, or La última risa: una historia alternativa de la comedia española, screened at The Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York. He has participated in the book Territorios y Fronteras 2. Emergencias y urgencias en el cine documental español, edited by the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. He has also been a member of the committee that awards grants from the Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico (Proimágenes Colombia) for project writing and in the ZINEBI Networking: Dokumentalen Sorgunea - Foro Profesional de Cine Documental de Bilbao (Bilbao Professional Documentary Film Forum). He has given lectures and project development consultancies in other institutions such as the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla. With a degree in psychology, he has also coordinated audiovisual workshops in psychiatric centers. He has been a jury member at festivals such as Athens, Cali, Cádiz, Málaga, Široki Brijeg, Foradcamp and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
