Esther Cabero

Esther Cabero (Aretxabaleta 1981). She started her career as the assistant to the Head of Industry of the San Sebastian International Film Festival. In 2009 she studied a Master’s degree in Cultural Management and entered the Cultural Department of the Spanish Cinema Academy programming screenings and designing exhibitions. From July 2011, she coordinates the Basque Government’s short film distribution and promotion program Kimuak. She has been a jury member at several film festivals worldwide and has participated in a number of international project commissions.

Jara Ayucar

Jara Ayucar

Jara Ayucar holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities (majoring in Communication) from the University of Deusto (San Sebastián) and a Master’s degree in Audiovisual and Documentary Writing (majoring in Narrative Strategies and Production Processes) from the UPV-EHU (Leioa Campus). Jara began her professional career in the San Sebastián Film Festival Department of Industry (Sales Office) in 2009. Since then, she has combined her work for the San Sebastián Film Festival Industry Club with work relating to the international audiovisual industry. She has acted as a matchmaker in a variety of international markets, (MIPTV, MIPCOM, EFM Berlinale, Cannes Festival Marché du Film, FICG), in cinema distribution (One Eyed Films, London), and in television production (Bainet TV), she colaborated with the organisation of the FICG market, in addition to coordinating the film screenings and moderations at the first San Cristóbal de las Casas International Film Festival and leading the programming of the AECID Training Centre in La Antigua Guatemala. She is currently the marketing director of Zineuskadi, where her work focuses most strongly on increasing the international scope of the industry in cinema markets (Basque Audiovisual). In 2018 launched the NOKA Mentoring programme for basque women directors.

Maialen Beloki

Maialen Beloki

Maialen Beloki (San Sebastian, 1983) Deputy Director of the San Sebastian Festival since 2016. Coordinator of the “Festival all year round”, the institution’s major strategic commitment combining its fundamental lines of action in the 21st century: the search for, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and knowledge transfer on the subject of film (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia +); and cinematic research and thinking (the Z70 project, the Zine publication). Graduate in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Navarra (Pamplona) 2002-2005. Doctor in Film Theory, Analysis and Documentation (doctoral thesis Between Antonio and Antxon Eceiza. Cinema and politics) from the Public University of the Basque Country, Leioa, 2006-2010. She collaborated in setting the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola film school in motion and is a member of its Academic Directorate. She was a lecturer in communication at the HUHEZI faculty of Mondragon University. She participated in the book Antxon Eceiza, cine existencialismo y dialéctica (Jesús Angulo, Maialen Beloki, José Luis Rebordinos, Antonio Santamarina, Filmoteca Vasca, 2010) and Cine vasco: tres generaciones de cineastas (Filmoteca Vasca, 2015). She participated in the selection of projects for the Luis García Berlanga research grants of Spanish Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences (2020). She participated in the short film selection Kimuak, the Basque government programme for the international promotion and distribution of Basque short films (2012, 2013), and is a member of the Basque Government Council on Culture.

Aida Vallejo

Aida Vallejo

Professor at University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and specialist on creative documentary and film festi-vals. Co-editor of the books Documentary Film Festivals Vol.1 y Vol.2 and Film Festivals and Anthropology. Coordinator of ikerFESTS research project (about festivals in the Basque context).Visiting professor and re-searcher at several European universities, including FAMU(Prague) and Thessaloniki. She has participated in documentary selection committees (Lau Haizetara forum of San Sebastian IFF and the Regional Government of Bizkaia), and juries at several international festivals.
